Johnny Haag has been a dedicated Mysore teacher at Sarvam Yoga, visiting regularly for nearly three years to guide practitioners in the Ashtanga yoga method. With a deep connection to the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga, his teaching journey began with his first trip to Mysore, South India, in 2013, where he studied under Sharath Jois at the K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI). Since then, he has returned annually to deepen his practice and connection with the Jois family.
In 2015, he received Level 2 Authorization from R. Sharath Jois, allowing him to teach the full Intermediate series of Ashtanga yoga. He was honored to assist Sharath Jois’s Mysore classes at KPJAYI in 2016 and 2019, further enriching his understanding of the traditional practice.
Before traveling to India, he began his daily Ashtanga practice in 2009 under Jason Stein at Portland Ashtanga Yoga in Oregon, USA, and taught alongside him until 2016. He also completed the 1st and 2nd series teacher trainings with Tim Miller in 2010 and 2012, expressing immense gratitude for these mentors who guided his journey into the advanced series.
Over the years, he has taught internationally, offering Mysore programs and workshops in cities such as Jakarta, Tokyo, Abu Dhabi, Mexico City, and Florianópolis. In late 2020, he established his Mysore program in Canggu, Bali, where he continues to welcome travelers to practice in a serene and focused environment.
His dedication to the Ashtanga lineage and commitment to sharing this transformative practice make him a valued part of Sarvam Yoga’s teaching community.
