26-05-2019 | Fashion & Fiction: Needle Art Show & ‘Shatila Stories’ Reading
Date: Saturday 18th May
Shatila Studio invites you to a book reading from ’Shatila Stories’ and an exhibition of their new collection.
Shatila Studio is a social enterprise run by refugee women who create bespoke needle art from the heart of Shatila camp. Our designs are based on the lives of the women who work with us, and draw their inspiration from ‘Shatila Stories’, a novel written by 9 residents of Shatila. Every piece is unique, every piece has a story.
We’ve been working for months to get the collection together, and the time has finally come to show it off and start selling our designs.
There will also be a book reading of extracts from ‘Shatila Stories’ by the authors themselves, so you can find out the inspiration behind the designs.
Saturday 18th May
Location: Sarvam Yoga Studio, Gemmayze
The reading from ‘Shatila Stories’ will be in both Arabic and English.
Don’t forget your wallets if you would like to get your hands on our new collection or a copy of ‘Shatila Stories’!
